Many residents and station users have commented or contacted us directly expressing their concerns and shock over the recent work undertaken by Network Rail, the severity of the clearance.and the impact it has had on increased noise,on wildlife, and on the town's landscape.

We have raised the issue with our local MP, Network Rail, and our local town and district council.

We have also received press, radio and TV coverage highlighting the concerns we have over this issue

This page highlights some of those concerns.

Noise levels have increased for residents on Lea Road

The pathway leading to the station from Lea Road

Network Rail claim drivers' views of signals are impaired by trees and shrubs which grow close to the line.

Pictures opposite show:-
1) The 'UP Signal' is situated at the end of the platform -

2) the 'DOWN' signal is still surrounded by trees and bushes!

They also claim that drivers have reported difficulties in braking on the approach to the station.

The picture below shows the approach to the station from Sheffield - which still has trees growing close to the trackside.
