IPSUM DOLOR

There are some 750 or so Civic Societies throughout the UK with over 50 in the East Midlands Region.

Each Society’s work varies from place to place, often determined by the needs within their local community, encouraging new developments to enhance the amenities and general prosperity of local communities.

What is a Civic Society?

·      undertaking practical projects, developing new societies, finding solutions to traffic problems.

·         input into local development plans, local area agreements, representing local residents on various strategic regional planning and housing forums.

·         campaigning to improve local transport systems and better public transport.

·         providing support to various small local improvement projects, such arts clubs, throughout the community.

·         ensuring high standards in planning, architectural design and campaigning for the preservation of historic buildings.

·         creating opportunities for local people to play a part in protecting their heritage as well as shaping the future of their community.

What Civic Societies do.

Dronfield Civic Society supports a wider movement known as the Civic Voice (formerly the Civic Trust) - a national charity for the civic movement.
