A couple of years ago, one of our members made us aware that some of the original trees in Sindelfingen Park were not looking too healthy. Margaret Turner asked whether the Civic Society would agree to fund some replacement trees. We contacted the Town Council to see whether this would be acceptable and to provide us with suitable locations to plant in the park.
Committee members visited a specialist tree nursery in November to make a selection of three trees with all year round interest. We chose a birch, a hornbeam and a liquidambar. The trees were 14-16 ft in height so that they would have immediate presence and a good start in the setting of the park.
The trees were collected on November 20th and delivered to Sindelfingen Park where the Town Council Outside Services team had prepared the ground. Margaret Turner was invited to attend the tree planting and she joined committee members and Councillor Philip Wright who takes a keen interest in all town twinning matters with Sindelfingen.
Next time you visit Sindelfingen Park; have a look for the new arrivals.
