K6 Book Exchanges
The Civic Society has now made two of our three K6 kiosks into Book Exchanges. The Falcon Road kiosk became a Book Exchange earlier in 2019 and such was the success of it, that Committee took the decision to convert the Coal Aston kiosk for books also. Committee Member David Hallam made a set of five shelves for the books and gave the inside of the kiosk a good clean. Mother Nature had invaded the inside of the kiosk since it was renovated in 2015 as a piece of heritage street furniture. Both kiosks are being looked after by local volunteers who work on behalf of the Society. They keep the kiosks litter-free, remove any unwanted advertising, manage the book stock and report back to us if there are any problems.
So now with double the capacity, residents can visit two kiosks to make their selections. The kiosks operate on a ‘bring one take one’ basis. The most recent K6 purchased by the Civic Society is below Holmesdale shops. Currently this remains as an item of street furniture, but if residents feel that this should also be a Book Exchange or have any other ideas for this kiosk, please contact us.
