Litter Clearance
A town without litter is what we’d surely all like to see. Civic Society members and volunteers make continued efforts to achieve this through organised litter picks at problem sites. A recent initiative has been to organise family-orientated picks through the summer months. Litter picks which encourage the younger generation to take part in caring for the town are a very important part of our work.
The 5th Dronfield Hilltop Cubs recently asked us if they could help out with a spot of litter picking around the town for their ‘Community Impact Badge’. They bagged enough litter to fill eight sacks, which in the main was fast food packaging from nearby outlets as well as cans and plastic bottles. NEDDC support this initiative and have supplied us with plastic sacks, gloves and ten litter-picking tools for future use.
We also monitor fly-tipping and fly-posting and report it to the local authorities.
