Litter Clearance
Updated May 2026
A town without litter is what we’d all like to see. Encouraging younger citizens to care for the town is an important part of our work. Over the years we have worked with the 5th Dronfield Hilltop Cubs as they work to achieve their 'World Challenge' and 'Environmental Conservation' badges. On a lovely spring evening at the end of April 2026, Committee members helped to co-ordinate a litter pick. More than 30 cubs aged 8-11 years took part with their leader and volunteer helpers.
The Civic Society provided the litter picking equipment and bags as well as organising collection of the litter the next day. Former committee member David Hallam, who has helped with these events before, selected two routes along Callywhite Lane onto Mill Lane for one group and a second group worked their way around the edge of Cliffe Park and onto the paths leading to Stonelow.
The cubs were well-behaved and well-supervised. A lot of fun was had by all even though there wasn’t too much litter about.
